Tattoos, once considered permanent, no longer have to be an irreversible choice. In this enlightening exploration, we unveil a selection of cutting-edge tattoo removal methods that might not be widely known. These innovative techniques have emerged as effective alternatives for those looking to erase or modify their tattoos. From advanced laser technologies to unique procedures, these methods offer new possibilities for individuals seeking a fresh start with their skin canvas.

    1. Salabrasion & Dermabrasion

Among the oldest methods of tattoo removal that still find application today, salabrasion and dermabrasion stand the test of time. Salabrasion entails the abrasion of both the epidermis and dermis layers using a salt-based solution. On the other hand, dermabrasion employs a mechanical approach, involving the use of a rotating instrument to abrade the epidermis and dermis. While effective to some extent, it’s important to note that these methods come at a price – excruciating pain and visible, long-term damage to the epidermis.

    2. Skin Excision Surgical Removal with a Mark

Skin excision, as the name suggests, involves surgically removing the tattooed skin. This procedure invariably results in a scar, the size of which depends on the tattoo’s dimensions. Skin excision is a feasible option for smaller tattoos but becomes increasingly challenging, if not impossible, for larger inked areas. In certain cases, skin grafts can complement the process.

    3. Subcutaneous Injections of Solutions

Subcutaneous injections of solutions, typically glycolic acid-based or other liquid solutions, introduce these substances beneath the skin’s surface to target the tattoo ink. Although this method affects both the epidermis and dermis, it often leaves behind lasting scars or marks reminiscent of burns. Furthermore, the efficacy of this technique varies as the ink-solution mixture doesn’t easily migrate from the dermis to the epidermis.

    4. Tattoo Removal Cream

The idea of a tattoo removal cream may be enticing due to its affordability and perceived ease of use. However, the reality is quite different. Removing ink from the dermis with a cream, regardless of its type (peeling, TCA, or other), proves to be an incredibly challenging task. At best, these creams may superficially fade inks located within the epidermis.

    5. Laser Tattoo Removal

If you’ve previously attempted laser tattoo removal and the tattoo stubbornly persists, don’t despair. The MEDermis team boasts extensive experience in addressing clients who’ve undergone prior removal methods that might have caused skin damage or scarring. We have the capacity to eliminate any residual visible ink and, in certain cases, mitigate scar tissue using laser treatment. Additionally, our approach involves applying microdermabrasion to facilitate collagen regeneration in the skin.
