8. Alaska – Polar Bear

Alaska’s deadliest animal is the polar bear — a top predator of the Arctic and an extremely powerful carnivore. Found along Alaska’s northern coasts and sea ice, polar bears are opportunistic hunters that primarily feed on seals. While attacks on humans are rare due to their remote habitat, they can be fatal. Polar bears are curious and will approach campsites or settlements in search of food, particularly when sea ice is low. Their sheer size and strength make them especially dangerous. Residents of Alaska’s Arctic communities take polar bear threats seriously, often using bear patrols and deterrents to prevent surprise encounters.
