Positioned in Clackamas County, this municipality was not named to describe a lack of excitement. The town is named directly after William H. Boring, a Union veteran who settled the land in the 1870s. The community officially embraced the unusual name in 2012 by forming a sister-city relationship with the village of Dull in Scotland.
