39. Wisconsin: Disco
Located in Jackson County, this farming community has absolutely no historical connection to the music genre of the 1970s. The settlement was originally named Marengo, but the post office required a change to avoid confusion with another location. Town leaders arbitrarily selected the word Disco from a dictionary in 1896 because it was short.
