36. Nevada – Reno
Northeast Reno reflects more of the city’s urban pressure compared to newer, more developed parts of the metro area. The neighborhood has seen higher levels of property crime, theft, and socioeconomic strain tied to rapid population growth and housing demand. While Reno as a whole is smaller than Las Vegas, it still experiences uneven development patterns across different districts with an overall violent crime rate of 596 per 100k residents. Northeast Reno stands out because it combines older housing stock with increasing urban density, creating conditions where instability becomes more visible. Nevada’s broader crime narrative is often focused on Las Vegas, but Reno’s internal differences show how smaller cities can still have concentrated problem areas.
