7. Ohio – Hough (Cleveland)
Hough is one of Cleveland’s most historically significant neighborhoods, but also one of its most difficult in terms of long-term crime patterns that’s a major contributor to Cleveland’s violent crime rate of 1,665 per 100k residents. The area experienced a major decline over the decades tied to economic shifts, housing instability, and population loss. While parts of Cleveland have benefited from redevelopment, Hough’s recovery has been uneven. Some streets show improvement, while others still struggle with violence and neglect. Crime here is less about isolated events and more about structural challenges that have lasted for generations.
