6. Mississippi
Mississippi’s beautiful state parks attract outdoor enthusiasts, but they’re also home to over 50 snake species. The state’s warm, humid climate and diverse habitats, from swamps to forests, provide ideal conditions for a variety of snakes. For snake enthusiasts, many of Mississippi’s snakes are unusual and harmless to people and pets. However, you’ll want to have some healthy respect for the state’s six venomous snakes, such as the southern copperhead and cottonmouth. Understanding and respecting these creatures can enhance your outdoor experiences.
