    In Louisiana (and Virginia), it’s illegal for a woman to drive without her husband waving a flag in front of the car. Yes, you read that right! Thankfully, this relic of the past isn’t enforced anymore. This archaic law, originating from the early 20th century, required women to have a male flag-bearer walk in front of their vehicle to warn pedestrians and other drivers. While it’s no longer enforced, it serves as a reminder of the historical challenges faced by women in obtaining certain rights and freedoms.
