22. Kansas – Red Imported Fire Ant
Red imported fire ants in Kansas are aggressive and highly territorial. Their painful stings can cause allergic reactions, and in some cases, anaphylaxis. These ants build large, dome-shaped mounds in open, sunny areas like lawns, parks, and pastures. Disturbing a mound results in a swarm attack, with ants latching on and stinging repeatedly.
